A woman who admitted carrying out a £650,000 VAT fraud has been warned she faces a jail sentence.
Ella Thom, 49, pleaded guilty to committing fraud on a “grand scale” over several years from her North-east home.
Thom, whose address was given in court papers as Little Drumlassie Farm, Tornaveen, Banchory, appeared at Aberdeen Sheriff Court and admitted claiming £657,932.01 in VAT repayments she was not entitled to between September 7, 2004 and March 8, 2011.
Defence solicitor Peter Shepherd said that Thom’s health was “not good”.
He will be given the chance to speak fully in mitigation on her behalf at her next court hearing.
